One of the my most memorable hike memories from last summer is the Mt.Tallac summit that Bart
and I did early one morning. Our sunrise summit gave us an incredible view over Lake Tahoe from it's southwest corner. Yesterday, I decided to see Tahoe from the opposite corner. Starting at 5:30 a.m. I hiked to the top of Snow Valley Peak. The first 4 miles were along the Tahoe Rim Trail but forested and giving few views beyond the trees. The payoff was the last 2 exceptional miles as I got above the tree line and the views were expansive and beautiful! And, the best thing about these early starts is that I have the trails all to myself and share the peak only with the deer!
