Winnipeg is a city of rivers. Of course, there's the great Red and Assiniboine Rivers, but there are also the
smaller Seine River and the beautiful La Salle River just south of the city. With all these waterways within and around the city, it's odd that most Winnipeggers have never actually boated on Winnipeg's rivers. I was amongst that group... until our 14th day here. On that day, we traveled the Red and Assiniboine Rivers by water taxi. In order to get the most of this river trip, we toured the water taxi route from one end to
the other, boarding in the Corydon area and getting off at the Exchange District's waterfront. The water taxi route connects important spots along Winnipeg's historic city center. Traveling from the beautiful old homes in the Crescentwood neighborhood to the amazing stone buildings of Winnipeg's historic downtown by river was a wonderful journey. Seeing the city from this vantage point was great for us and taking a boat was one of this trip's highlights for Rai and Ko. In the evening, we attended the Punjabi Pavilion, one of dozens of cultural pavilions offered during Folklorama, the largest and longest running multicultural festival in the world!
