We've put a lot of emphasis on the names of our two boys on this blog and in our day to day life.
Clearly, having a nature theme to their names is important to us. Rai, our little 'life giving thunder and rain' and Kotaru our even smaller 'tree spirit with many paths' have big destinies to fulfill if they wish to stay true to their first names and respect their Sequoia last name.
While watching Fantasia 2000 the other day, we were excited to see that the final animated short, about Mother Earth, seems to fit their names perfectly. In the film, Mother Earth is like a tree spirit. She flies over a devastated landscape, showering it with life giving rain. From the earth grow giant trees which could very well be sequoias. This animation seems to be the story of our two boys. Enjoy!
