Our Fledgling Musician

In your otherwise worry-free week, Rai, there are only a couple real, standing engagements that you have to remember. Every day, at the same bat-time and same bat-channel, your Grandma takes you to the local playground to meet up with your crew of babies. You all know each other by name now. Every Sunday is your playdate with all those Golden Gate Mother's Group baby friends of yours and every Tuesday is music class at Music Together in Laurel Village. When someone thinks 'meeting' they often dread the thing, but these are three meetings that you couldn't live without!
Music class. This could very well be the high point of your entire week, every week. You love it. This class effectively puts together your three favorite things in this world into one place, at one time; 1) other babies, 2) noise making, and 3) Grandpa. Every week, it's your Grandpa that brings you to this wonderful place where a dozen babies get together, bang on drums, and shake all kinds of noisy things. Heaven it is.
And, the music doesn't stop there. Your Grandpa believes that life, everyone's life, must have a soundtrack. An eclectic mix of music continually streams from his fancy system and out those top of the line speakers. In your Grandpa's arms, you dance and sing. And, when the music isn't playing, Grandpa makes his own. Still dreaming of singing on the Broadway stage, Grandpa creates a musical number for every action and activity.
The latest is piano time with Grandpa. He plays, you mimic. The other day, we were witness to your piano playing for the first time and, I must admit, you are quite the virtuoso. Really, I was impressed. Stick with it, little Rai!

  1. That dream of Stage Stardom has tarnished a bit for me Little Rai. But singing and playing duets with you is better than a hit on Broadway with a standing ovation. When you're in my arms it's pure Heaven. I think I can even hear "Bravo" from the Angels.
