Often neglected on travelers' itineraries, northern Greece is a less-travelled, authentic side of Greece that should be on everyone's list. Now pointing north, back to Belgrade, I headed up from Athens, first stopping in not-to-be-missed Meteora, an ancient collection of monasteries built to be unapproachable on the tops of finger like crags. From there, I spent some time in coastal Parga, the Vikos Gorge (Europe's deepest?), and Kastoria just before crossing the border into Macedonia.
