On the flight from San Francisco to Paris, I watched the French film 'Eiffel'. Telling the story of Gustave Eiffel, it gave me a much deeper insight into and appreciation for the man behind the Eiffel Tower. Following this, our visit to the Eiffel Tower was a completely different experience. Years ago, traveling on a very tight budget, Ash and I chose not to enter and climb the tower. This time, a climb was essential and, the entire time, I was thinking about Gustave and the legend that he had designed the tower in the form of the letter "A", in honor of his one true love. It may be one of the Eiffel Tower myths, but I hope it's true.
