A Week in Poland: Gdansk's Museums and the Zaspa Murals

Gdansk's World War II Museum and European Solidarity Center are exceptional, state of the art, interactive museums that effectively and engagingly share two pivotal eras in this city's and world history. We can't recommend these museums enough. To balance the history with some art, we also visited the Zaspa district, a Soviet tenement neighborhood that has been transformed into an open air art space with 60 murals on display on the tenement facades. It's the people's way to remove the anonymity that the buildings were designed to evoke.
