A Week in Poland: Back to Where it all Began, Bialystok

For 2.5 years, we've been just 6.5 hours drive from the place I was born. Yet, we haven't made the drive. Until now, that is. We are currently on our "ski week" holiday at school and since we are having an abnormally warm winter, taking a small road trip into north eastern Poland was something that seemed comfortably possible. We began with a night and morning in Kaunas, Lithuania before crossing the border and heading straight for my birth town, Bialystok. Everything about going to Bialystok was very emotional for me. It literally has been about 40 years since I've been here. Walking up to the apartment in which my parents lived was quite surreal. I will hold on to the emotions that came with this homecoming for a long time.
