A Week in Borneo - Day 7: Lok Kawi Wildlife Park

Due to passport issues, we lost 3 days of this vacation. Those three days were to be spent further afield in Sabah. We were excited to visit the Sepilok Orangutan Refuge near Sandakan. We lost that opportunity but knew that we couldn't visit Sabah without seeing these great apes up close. Our only option was Lok Kawi Wildlife Park not far outside of Kota Kinabalu. We visited expecting a zoo but quickly realized that although it is a zoo, it has a much more open and wild feeling than most. The animals were happy and very active and we were able to see some of Borneo's most famous animals quite close. This turned out to be a great closure to our short time in Borneo. And, before we knew it, we were back in Singapore...
