The Long Way Home - Day 4: Beat the L.A. Traffic

Finally, the day when we had to deal with the inevitable: Los Angeles traffic. We stuck to the coast, following Highway 1, passing one beach town after another -- San Clemente, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, and Malibu -- at a brisk pace of about 20 miles per hour. The two hour stop at Hermosa Beach was much needed by everyone and we made it to our campground beyond Santa Barbara before midnight.
