Almost Summit #7: Jeff Davis Peak
For our last day at the cabin, we always like to finish with a big hike, something epic that is fit to be the last experience of our long summer here. This year, we decided to get as close to the summit of Jeff Davis Peak as we could. Rai has transformed into an incredible hiker this summer so this hike was a cinch for him and we ended at the very base of the 200 foot tall rock tower that marks the very top of this peak. From way up there, we could see a lot of the key peaks in Alpine County -- Hawkins Peak, Markleeville Peak, Elephants Back, Round Top, The Nipple, Silver Peak, Mt.Raymond, and Mt.Reynolds -- so this climb was the perfect goodbye to our summer home.
