Checking Up on Rai and Ko

As teachers, we know how tempting it is to check up on our students beyond the walls of our classroom. I mean, you spend hours with these kids and invest a great deal of emotional energy into thinking about what is best for them. So, if the opportunity arises, it's nice to know a bit more about how things are going for them. It looks like Rai's and Ko's preschool teachers feel the same way. Teacher Alicia met us for lunch a few weeks ago and, last night, she and Teacher Nina both came over for dinner. The evening was a real emotional roller-coaster for Rai -- he had highs and lows -- but everything turned out fine and he made it through the evening. His teachers are a very, very big part of his life so we understand why he was so anxious about the evening and who knows when such an event will take place again. In the meantime, we hope their curiosity has been satisfied. They have checked up on Rai and Ko and all is well.
