Day 3 began with us looking out over the mountains from our motel balcony, thinking, "even the views
from a cheap motel are pretty spectacular up here!" On this last day, however, we had to deliver to Rai and Ko, something we had promised them all weekend long: a giant playground. We didn't know what Ukiah had in the way of playgrounds, but when we finally located the local playground, we couldn't believe what we had found! It looks like people who live under the world's tallest trees, know what "big" is. We've never
seen a playground like this one before. It is huge. And... it has a rocketship! Amazing! After that, we drove a long, windy mountain road (last windy road, we promise, Rai!) to Montgomery Woods and Orr Hot Springs. The Woods are one of the more "secret" redwood groves in California. So secret that their location is virtually unmarked along the road but, we knew we had found the Preserve when we crossed a wide redwood bridge with giant redwoods at each end. Orr Hot Springs may be the best hot spring we've found in California yet. We will be back. What a combination and what a close to a wonderful weekend!
