Finally Sharing a Room?

Since birth, Ko has basically been sharing a bed with us. In the beginning, he was permanentlyattached to Ashe. More recently, he claimed more than his fair share of her pillow. And, once in a while, he migrates away from Mom and pushes Dad off of the bed. Despite the restless nights, we love having our little boy share our bed with us.
Time flies, however, and it's best that we begin now in our efforts to avoid the "why is your teenager sharing a bed with you?" scenario. Ko, it's time you sleep in your own bed! Taking it a step further, we decided to try to get Rai and Ko to share the second bedroom. How could we convince Rai, however, that his arch nemesis, Ko, is to be welcomed into and not chased out of his bedroom? Why, build a fort, of course! Last weekend, the boys and I built some pretty amazing forts in our place. We began with a huge fort in the dining room. They crawled through it's tunnels and chambers together happily. The next day, the fort was built in Rai's room. Again, they had a great time together. And, that was it -- Rai was easily conditioned to believe that he and Ko could share a space joyfully and that space could be in his room, too! Four nights into "Mission: Ko Invades Rai's Room" everyone is doing pretty well. The boys sleep soundly from 7pm through midnight when Ko inevitably wakes up, confused and searching for Mom. He spends the rest of the night in our bed.
