After a few years with mild, nearly snowless winters, we just made it through our best (coldest and snowiest) winter in Latvia. For the first time since we moved here, we were able to go cross-country skiing nearly every day at the end of the school day and our forest walks were incredible walks through a perfect wintry landscape. Let's hope that next winter looks like this one. This is the kind of winter we can get used to -- as long as every day ends with some time in our sauna ...
