Back to the West Point
Our last two visits to the West Point Inn were so wonderful that we really wanted to visit and stay
for the night again, without waiting until next summer. Somehow, we found one available room for this past Friday evening and decided to make it an early birthday present for me. Once again, we had an amazing time even though we didn't get our traditional cabin #12. We had to stay in the main lodge this time, given the boys a great bed to jump on. The sunrise, too, was not as spectacular as the one this summer but I still can't think of a better way to start the day then to hike up to the summit of Mt.Tam at 6 in the morning, above a sea of fog as far as the eye can see. Perhaps most rewarding, however, was seeing the boys, on their third visit, embrace this mountain home and make it an extension of their many "homes". This time, they entered the West Point confident and safe. They knew every nook and cranny of the place, every stairwell and room, every secret passage and trail. They were at home and they were happy. When can we return?!
