The fog advanced in, then receded out. When it came in again, it clung to the trees and cliffs, but

at the water's surface and above the tree line, the air was clear, blue sky and blue waters. This indecisive fog set the perfect mood for a coastal walk on Hallowe'en morning.
It's been a little while since, as a family, we've done the Land's End

walk so on this beautiful Saturday morning, it wasn't hard to convince each other that taking this short walk from our place was the perfect way to pass a few weekend hours.
Fog usually makes this walk refreshing but without views. On this

day, however, the fog made it one of the more memorable trips we've ever made along the Land's End trail. The fog was a thick, white cloud that sat just meters above the Bay's surface. Even better, it was a low fog. Across the Bay, we could still see the tops of Marin's green hills rising out of the fluffy white fog. Closer still, an amazing scene: the very tops of the

Golden Gate Bridge's two towers pierced the fog and rose into the blue sky. And, as we looked at those towers, we approached a group. But, their eyes were looking down, not up. We followed their gaze to see three dolphins jumping in and out of the water not far from the rocky shores. For minutes, we followed the dolphins as they circled and eventually turned out towards the Ocean.
Rai, you too were impressed. Your wide eyes took in every last detail of the scenery as we walked all the way to Seacliff and back home. We returned wondering why we hadn't made time for this

walk in the past few weeks. We've said it before and will say it again: we are so incredibly lucky to have this wonderful nature just minutes beyond our front steps.
