We knew that part of this trip had to be spent in the woods, away from it all. That was easily accomplished in the very south of Estonia, just across the border from the remote Veclaicene region of Latvia. Before crossing the border, we enjoyed Gaujiena. In Estonia, after missing it years ago, we were able to make a visit to the open air museum in Moniste, which is an incredibly atmospheric place. Finally, arriving at our cabin, we knew that we had found the right place for a two night stay in the snowy woods.
