Following the northern shore of the Daugava River, heading southeast from Riga, one soon arrives in the ancient town of Salaspils which now hosts Latvia's National Botanic Gardens. After a rainy hour at the Garden, we headed just a little further along the Daugava to Ogre, another historic town in a beautiful setting at the base of the "Blue Hills". The town itself is heavily forested and quite beautiful. We were surprised to find this gem of a village just 45 minutes from home. The boys loved the jump space in the back of the restaurant we ended up in late this Saturday evening...
