The Big Bus Tour!

After 10 years in San Francisco (and a lifetime for Ash!), we finally had to do one of the few "tourist" things we haven't yet done in our City by the Bay. So, we did it -- we took the Big Bus Tour. We hopped on the big, red, double-decker, open top bus at the Golden Gate Bridge, and did the full circuit from there, through downtown, to Fisherman's Wharf and then back through the Haight and Golden Gate Park. It was a long, windy ride and, although we'd prefer to report otherwise, it was barely worth the time, and definitely not worth the hefty price tag. We did learn some interesting facts along the way, but those were few. The highlight was cruising over the Golden Gate in that open top, and our elevated view of many downtown sights. Unfortunately, most of the commentary was pretty poor and hardly informative and due to tour bus restrictions, the bus had to follow some of the less interesting streets through town skipping some of the most scenic blocks and neighborhoods. Knowing San Francisco as well as we do, we felt bad for all the tourists on the bus unaware of what they were missing. For many, this may be the extent of their exposure to our amazing city and we're disappointed to know that so many leave the city with this lackluster vision of the city.
