Upper Truckee River Marsh

Sometimes, the best places are discovered by chance. That's what happened to us today when we visited South Lake Tahoe to pick up some groceries. Lost in the grid of streets that is the heart of South Lake Tahoe town, we found a trail that meanders into the marshlands at the point where the Upper Truckee River meets Lake Tahoe. It is one of the best easy trails we've hiked in the Tahoe area. One hour turned into two which turned into three. We were so relaxed in this beautiful meadow that we just couldn't leave.
