We visited the zoo again yesterday but, it wasn't your typical zoo visit because we didn't really go for the

animals. Actually, we went for everything but the animals. First stop: the carousel. Next stop: the cafe. Next stop: the train. Final stop: the new kids nature area in the zoo. Sure, along the way, we did see the

usual suspects: the giraffes, the flamingos, and even the chimpanzees but, this time it truly was about the amenities. The kids nature area was the best of all. It looks like they knocked the fences down around some old animal enclosure and let the kids flood in. It's one step closer to the "open" zoo we visited in India where walls and fences do not exist and the animals really do run the place. There, we were reminded of something that we are often reminded of: that kids don't need much. They don't need fancy theme parks or expensive toys. All they need is a simple game and a lot of imagination. Rai and Ko could have played hopscotch on the tree stump spiral all day long!
