We had just been away from the coast for a day but it felt like more. Sleeping in the forest for two nights with incessant mosquitos keeping us up was likely the reason for that. We did have some good wildlife encounters on this day, too. In the morning, we spotted the famous Kookaburra bird and later, incredibly, we saw our first group of kangaroos. This was odd as we saw kangaroos every day when we were in Australia this past summer. We were glad, however, to say goodbye to those mosquitos and, on this day we emerged from the Tall Timber Country and back on the coast. This time, the true south coast of Australia. This was now the great Southern Ocean opening up in front of us, no longer the Indian Ocean. We walked the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk at Walpole and continued on to Denmark, known for its small town charm and spectacular coastline.
