So far, we'd enjoyed lots of coast and beaches, the hills and forests, but something was missing... the mountains! Mountain life is hard to find in Australia, but the hills and escarpments that pass for mountains on this continent are quite stunning. In Western Australia, the largest peaks can be found in the Stirling Ranges, not far inland from Albany. We began this day with an early morning hike up to the top of Castle Rock at Porongurup National Park where we walked the harrowing Granite Skywalk before moving into the Stirling Ranges proper, with a visit to Western Australia's highest peak, Bluff Knoll. And, all good things come to an end. It was time for us to stop looking ahead and, instead, look back towards Perth. Our flight was less than 24 hours away and we were more than 500 kilometers from Perth. We made the loooonnngggg drive back to the little town of Balingup in the hills for their Friday evening market and a great final dinner in Australia!
