Mid-Autumn Festival

The Chinese lunar calendar marks marks many holidays and celebrations. One of the most important is the mid-autumn festival, a Fall harvest festival that is known for its lantern displays and, of course, moon cakes, which have been on sale everywhere for the past month or so! We are now on the eve of the great full moon and today was the big day in Chinatown. Hundreds were out to celebrate and the streets were even more crowded when we left in anticipation of the great lantern parade. It was too late for us, but we did manage to get a feel for the event just by wandering about Chinatown all day. Happy Harvest Moon!
