Most evenings, we find ourselves playing three or four board games, painting, coloring, building, destroying and reading. The boys like to keep themselves busy and (sometimes) they even wear themselves out enough to pass out at the end of the night although, if they had it their way, it would be in our bed, not theirs, every night.

Frankenstein's Little Monster

There's something inevitable about boys and stitches. With only 4.5 years of parenting behind us, we got to make our first rush to the emergency room to get a bloody gash cleaned up and stitched up. Rai tripped while running in our hallway and did a Superman dive, face first, at the corner of our bench. Despite the five stitches on his upper cheek, we find ourselves thankful. Thankful that contact was millimeters from his eye. So, for a little while, anyway, we've got Frankenstein's little monster in our home. A few days later, Rai is in good spirits and it's almost as if nothing every happened. Almost.

With Baker Beach just across the road from us, we rarely visit Ocean Beach but, with some great sunsets all week long, we decided to take a bike ride down to OB last Sunday evening. With a thick fog rolling in, we didn't get the sunset we hoped to, but the mist colored orange and yellow by the last rays of sun was an event in itself.

Rai is 57 Months Old!

Rai is his own person. Completely. With this complete independence comes a personality that is not all black and white. There's a lot of gray: sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes somewhere in between. Sometimes dark and brooding, sometimes bright and jovial. Sometimes, a mix of both.

Gray Whale Cove

Since the opening of the Devil's Slide Tunnel south of Pacifica, a beautiful and long stretch of coastal highway has been reclaimed by nature. The route is undergoing some work as it makes it's switch from highway to trail. Checking on the status of the project, we found some "No Trespassing" signs still up so we decided to try a spot we've not yet tried: Gray Whale Cove. Visiting this beach that we've never been to was a wonderful decision. It's an amazing spot and the kind of beach we usually drive a lot further south for. It's good to know that we have this kind of beach just 15 minutes from home!
